NATALIE PORTMAN: Apologizes to Jessica Simpson for Slut Shaming

Jessica Simpson has fired back at Natalie Portman for "slut shaming" her.

Natalie, who plays a pop star in the new movie Vox Lux, started things in an interview with USA Today, saying, "I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying ‘I’m a virgin’ while wearing a bikini, and I was confused. Like, I don’t know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl."

Jessica hit Instagram today (Wednesday) to say she was "disappointed" when she read the comments. "As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often often tries to define us and box us in."

She ended her note by bringing up the #TimesUp movement: "I have made it my practice to not shame other women for their choices. In this era of Times Up and the great work you have done for women, I encourage you to do the same."

Natalie apologized in a direct response to the pop singer, writing, "I didn't mean to shame you and I'm sorry for any hurt my words may have caused. I have nothing but respect for your talent and your voice that you use to encourage and empower women all over the globe."

On The Anniversary Of Schindler’s List Steven Spielberg Warns Of “Collective Hate” -

Steven Spielberg believes people must confront the emergence of hateful ideologies now more than ever.

The acclaimed director talked about the need to "take it more seriously" in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt this week for a special screening of "Schindler's List" on its 25th anniversary.

The film was nominated for 12 Oscars and made around 320-million-dollars worldwide, a film that Spielberg thinks its timely due to events like the synagogue mass shooting in Pittsburgh. When referring to the themes of the film and society today, he said he thought "there is more at stake today than even back then."
