REI Is Going To Be Closed Again For Thanksgiving And Black Friday -

When REI says they want their employees to put family first, they aren’t kidding.

The retailer started #OptOutside in 2015 and this year the campaign continues. #OptOutside is REI’s decision to close on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, which gives employees and shoppers a chance to be with family.

The company says doing outdoor activities with those you love is the goal here. In a statement, CEO Jerry Stritzke says “Since launching #OptOutside, we’ve watched more than 200 retailers go out of business. It has been a period of enormous change in retail. We've stayed healthy partly because we’ve stuck with our core values -- like giving our employees time to do what they love with the people they love during the holidays. “

REI will be revealing their #OptOutside plans soon.
