The Perseid Meteor Shower “Show” Starts Today -
The most popular meteor shower of the year is making its debut.
The Perseid [[ PUR-see-id ]] meteor shower begins tomorrow. Scientists say Earth will pass through the path of Comet Swift-Tuttle from July 17th to August 24th, with the shower's peak set to happen on August 12th. But, viewers can still catch meteor action before or after the peak time.
The meteor shower can be seen best from the Northern Hemisphere and down to the mid-southern latitudes. Dust and debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle is what causes the Perseid meteor shower. The solid particles can range from the size of a grain of sand to a few millimeters.

FBI Nabs Russian Woman Accused Of Being A Kremlin Agent -
A founder of Russian gun rights group Right To Bear Arms is under arrest on espionage charges.
U.S. officials are charging a Russian national with being a spy for Moscow in the U.S. Maria Butinais also being charged with trying to influence U.S. politics. Reports say she tried to infiltrate the National Rifle Association through her gun rights organization.
An affidavit says she recently got a master’s degree from American University and “took steps to develop relationships with American politicians in order to establish private, or as she called them, ‘back channel’ lines of communications.”
Butina, through her attorney denies the charges and says the whole thing is “overblown.” However, Butina came to the U.S. under the direction of an unnamed Russian official, who now happens to be one of the closest allies Russian president Vladimir Putin has.
She was arrested over the weekend.

SUV Plunges From Fourth Floor Of New Orleans Parking Garage -
An NFL player came to the rescue after a bizarre accident Sunday.
The driver of a Mercedes SUV is injured after the vehicle plunged off the fourth floor of a parking garage in downtown New Orleans. Police say the vehicle, for unknown reasons, crashed through a concrete barrier and then hit the ground seconds later seriously damaging it.
New Orleans Saints defensive end Mitchell Loewen was first on the scene and helped flip the SUV upright and get the injured man out. Loewen explained the moment of talking with the driver. ”I hugged him and told him he was going to be ok, and then I prayed with him," Loewen told the Times-Picayune. "I couldn't tell how bad his injuries were, but there was a lot of blood and broken glass."

New Orleans Saints defensive end Mitchell Loewen helped save a man from a car that fell from the fourth story of a parking garage. Loewen was having a meal with his family at a restaurant in New Orleans when the incident occurred. He was the first person to approach the vehicle, with others joining in on the recovery effort. "There were a bunch of people standing around, but not approaching the car and I was like 'What's up, let's help this guy,'" Loewen said, per NOLA.com's Marie Simoneaux. "I mean, obviously there was someone in there, I wasn't going to just stand by and watch. It was a life or death situation."
Police Are Hunting For Serial Killer In Houston -
There’s apparently a serial killer on the loose in Houston, Texas.
Houston and Harris County authorities are looking for a man suspected of three fatal shootings in the area over the past few days. Jose Rodriguez, a 46-year-old registered sex offender, is the suspect in the murder of a 62-year-old woman on Friday at her home in Cypress.
Rodriguez is also suspected of Saturday's murder of a 28-year-old employee of a Mattress Firm in northwest Houston, as well as Monday's killing of an employee at a Mattress One in north Houston. The crime spree started on July 9 with a home invasion. Police say he also robbed and wounded a Metro bus driver on Monday.

Kids Hurt In Five Bus Summer Camp Collision In New Jersey -
Officials in Medford Lakes, New Jersey want to know exactly how a chain reaction crash happened with five school buses.
Medford Township police say the buses were carrying campers from the area J-C-C Camp yesterday when they crashed together in a chain reaction. Twenty-one children, two bus drivers and an adult camp staffer were sent to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries following the incident.
67 uninjured campers and 10 staff members were taken back to the JCC facility and reunited with family members. Photos from the scene show at least one bus involved to have sustained heavy front end damage.
