Cambridge Analytica Is Liquidating -
An embattled data company has been undone by mishandling information.
The data analysis company at the center of the Facebook privacy blow-up is filing for bankruptcy. Cambridge Analytica filed to begin liquidating late yesterday. The company listed assets of less than half-a-million dollars and liabilities of as much as ten-million.
The filing isn't a surprise. Cambridge Analytica and its British parent company said earlier this month they were shutting down immediately and starting bankruptcy proceeding after business fell off sharply.
Cambridge Analytica worked on President Trump's 2016 campaign. Earlier this year it was revealed the firm gathered personal information of 87-million Facebook users. The company claimed it was for academic research, not political purposes.
A Man Is In Custody For The California Spa Blast -
The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was killed in an Orange County explosion is due in court today while his daughter is defending him.
Stephen Beal has been arrested for having an illegal explosive device, but has not been charged in connection to Tuesday's blast. Beal's daughter says he is a good father and there's no way that he would hurt anyone. The suspect considered himself an actor and even posted a 90-second YouTube video about himself for a possible role.
Two complete IEDs were found in the man’s home along with 130 pounds of explosives. Court documents also revealed Beal and the victim, Ildiko Krajnyak were partners in the spa.
Neighbors in Long Beach say he liked to build model rockets, some of which were the size of an average adult. Beal is expected to be in front of a federal judge in Santa Ana but details of his charges will be released before he's walked into a courtroom.

Haspel was confirmed with a 54-45 vote that included support from six Democrats and no votes from two Republicans. Following the vote, Trump tweeted, "Congratulations to our new CIA Director, Gina Haspel."
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also offered strong support of Haspel, saying, "The safety and security of the American people depend on capable intelligence leadership. Gina Haspel is the right woman at the right time."
