*The city of Carbondale is getting prepared for thousands of guests during the total solar eclipse on August 21st.  Hotels say they've booked up for the weekend of events.


*A five alarm fire broke out in a canning plant in Arnold last night.  A furnace caught fire & Firefighters had to cut through dry wall to find it.  One firefighter was taken to a hospital because of heat exhaustion.  The plant manager got all of the workers out safely. 



*Authorities have captured the last of 12 escaped inmates from a county jail in Alabama.

24-year old Brady Kilpatrick was captured at a home in Martin County, Florida Tuesday night. He had been on the run since Sunday when he and 11 other prisoners used peanut butter to alter the numbers on an outside door, which tricked a guard into believing he was opening a cell door. They all slipped out of the facility all but Kilpatrick were captured within eight hours.

Kilpatrick is doing time for marijuana possession and is likely to have more time added to his sentence.

*With Apple on track to deliver a 10th-anniversary lineup on new iPhones and surprisingly potent fiscal third-quarter earnings, the company's stock spiked up 6% Tuesday, hitting a record high in after-hours trading.

Apple's stock rose to an all-time high of $159.10 after it announced better-than-predicted sales of iPhones, earnings per share and revenue. Apple's rise was expect to bump the Dow Jones Industrial Average above the 22,000 mark on Wednesday.

The company also announced that total iPhone sales have now topped the 1.2 billion mark. 


*Cory Booker Presses To Legalize Marijuana-

Senator Cory Booker says marijuana should be legal in America.

The New Jersey Democrat introduced legislation yesterday in Washington that would legalize pot at the federal level, reversing decades of national policy. Booker says that current drug laws disproportionately hurt minority communities.

His Marijuana Justice Act also would provide federal monetary punishments to states to change their marijuana laws if they were shown to disproportionately hurt low-income individuals or people of color.

Those “aggrieved” by a disproportionate arrest or imprisonment rate would be able to sue, according to the bill. And a Community Reinvestment Fund would be established to “reinvest in communities most affected by the war on drugs” for everything from re-entry programs to public libraries.

It has virtually no chance of passage in the Republican controlled Congress,

Teen Airline Traveler Opens Emergency Door And Hops Onto Tarmac-

A seemingly fidgety teen opened an emergency door, slid down a wing and onto the tarmac as his plane landed in San Francisco.  The 17-year-old was described as being in “emotional distress” during the flight. Within seconds after the Copa Airlines plane hit the boy had the emergency door open and he was jumping off the wing to the tarmac. It happened so fast, no one could stop him.

An airfield construction crew ran into the boy and detained him for police. The teen is a U.S. citizen who visited South America.
