Shark Week is rapidly approaching. It starts the last week in July.
The Discovery Channel announced the details of the involvement of Michael Phelps. He’ll attempt to race a great white shark. The segment is dubbed “Great Gold versus Great White.”
Phelps earned 23 Olympic gold medals against humans. But honestly, he doesn’t stand a chance against the world’s most-feared apex predator.
Then again, Phelps doesn’t have to out swim a great white. He just needs to swim faster than the Discovery Channel cameraman. (Baltimore Sun)
Talk About It:
- Phelps taped a second segment at the Bimini Shark Lab off the coast of Florida. There, he learned the facts and fake news about sharks.
- The Global Shark Attack File highlights the beaches where you don’t to go swimming. Avoid Australia, Hawaii and the remote island called Reunion if you have a healthy fear of sharks.
- One week after Shark Week, the SyFy Channel airs Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.
- The most common animal phobias are snakes, spiders and sharks. Coincidentally all starting with the letter "s."
