*Thieves broke into two different pharmacies in Jefferson County within just a few days, stealing almost $50,000 worth of drugs. One was a pharmacy in Festus the other in De Soto.  Police are trying to determine if the two burglaries are related.

*JC Penny says it will be closing close to 140 stores in the next few months to help improve profits because they say most people are shopping online.  The closure is about 14% of its total stores. There are 9 JC Penny stores in St. Louis, most at area malls. No word yet if any of those will be affected.

NATIONAL 

*A Kansas Man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a shooting which many argue was a hate crime.  Adam Purinton is accused of shooting two Indian men inside a crowded sports bar on Wednesday night. One died at the hospital and the other is in stable condition. He also shot a third man, who tried to intervene.  Witnesses say it was a hate crime because Purinton was heard using "racial slurs" and shouted "get out of my country" before firing his gun.  The shooting is big news in India, where the government has ordered its diplomats to monitor the investigation.

*An El Salvadorian woman with a brain tumor who was awaiting emergency surgery was taken from a Texas hospital and moved to a detention center by federal agents. The move has raised concerns about President Trump's plan to more aggressively deport illegal immigrants. Sara Beltran-Hernandez is a 26-year-old mother of two young kids.  Her lawyer attempted to visit her but was told he could be arrested for trespassing.

*Malaysian police announced that a VX nerve agent was the poison used to kill Kim Jong-nam, the half brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. That substance was listed as a chemical weapon under the Chemical Weapons Conventions of 1997 and 2005.  The poison was identified from samples that were lifted from Kim's skin and eye.  North Korea denied any connection to Kim's death.
