*St. Louis County officials will announce how they plan to fund Proposition P today. County Executive Steve Stenger and Police Chief Jon Belmar say the half-cent sales tax would bring in $80 million to be dedicated to public safety and police. The money would help upgrade basic gear & would help place two officers in every patrol car and fund major investments, including body and dash cams. Voters will decide on Prop P in April.
*The former police chief of East St. Louis, Michael Floore plead guilty Tuesday in a St. Clair County courtroom to theft by deception. He worked part time at the Metro-link and collected pay from work he did not do. He was placed on 18 months conditional discharge and 20 hours of community service along with a fine.
*Missouri Governor Eric Greitens will be in St. Louis today to name a new state fire marshal and the director of the state Emergency Management Agency. He'll make the announcements at the St. Louis City Fire Academy & also take part in training exercises with city firefighters.
*Southeast Louisiana was hit by at least seven tornadoes on Tuesday that caused major damage and prompted the state's governor to declare a state of emergency.Although the multiple tornadoes caused plenty of damage and at least 20 injuries statewide, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said, "the Lord has blessed us with not a single fatality at this time."
