*The skyline in Dogtown could be growing taller.The Clayton-Tamm Community Association approved a zoning change to allow for a proposed $20-million mixed-use apartment building.A neighborhood meeting was held to discuss the topic. Most people at the meeting who opposed the project worry about lack of parking, sewage issues, and fear the modern building won’t blend with the character of Dogtown.
*Another storefront bites the dust. Teen clothing chain Wet Seal is calling it quits after failing to nail down a buyer to turn the business around.In a letter obtained by the Wall Street Journal, the retailer notified employees on Jan. 20 that its headquarters would permanently shut down and all of it's workers would lose their jobs.
*A very special guest is coming to the St. Louis County Library TONIGHT. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will speak at 7 p.m. at the main library on south Lindbergh Boulevard. She'll share her life story and talk about a newly-released biography of her late mother Coretta Scott King entitled, "My Life, My Love, My Legacy."
*A southern Missouri dog shelter is closing it's doors. Diana's Grove was supposed to open up a shelter at Chesterfield Mall but a lot of people say they were going to protest that. The board of directors for Diana's Grove which is located in Cabool resigned, she said she could no longer support the shelter. They got kicked out of doing adoptions at Petco, they had to give a bunch of their dogs up to the Humane Society, & there are rumors they've adopted out several sick dogs to people. Other licensed shelters have agreed to take the animals that aren't adopted by February 1st.
*To promote its two new versions of the Big Mac, McDonald's gave away 10,000 bottles of its trademark special sauce on Thursday and they're proving to be quite valuable.Some of those who nabbed bottles of the secret stuff have taken to eBay and are trying to sell them for hundreds and even thousands of dollars, with one listing topping out at $10,000.
