Summer is officially here, and many around the country are already planning how they want to enjoy the warm weather, from long days spent soaking up the sun to cozy nights listening to crickets chirp and cicadas sing while surrounded by family and friends.

Cosmopolitan knows just how much people enjoy traveling in the summer months and seeing more of the beauty that America has to offer so it compiled a list of the 15 "most underrated summer travel destinations" around the country, "inexpensive spots with fascinating backstories and vibey hangouts just waiting to be discovered."

Among the list of gorgeous state parks in the Northeast to winding highways along the West Coast is one spot in Missouri: Lake of the Ozarks. Here's what the site had to say:

"In Missouri, it's all about the lakes. Specifically, Lake of the Ozarks. It's famouse, of course, because of Netflix's Ozark, but also for its 'Party Cove' (real nam: Anderson Hollow Cove), where boats tie up to each other to create a giant pub crawl on water. Rent a party barge through Discover Boating so you can join them, or cruise to the docks of some of the lake's most popular restaurants, like Shady Gators and Backwater Jacks. Chances are you won't want to go back to dry land, but when you do, post up at The Lodge of Four Seasons, a cozy lakeside retreat with a great spa and live music."
