30 Years Ago Today An Earthquake Stopped the World Series

At just at about this time on October 17, 1989. The ABC-TV coverage had just begun for the Game 3 of the Wor;d Series between the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants, at Candlestick Park.

Al Michaels and Tim McCarver were in the middle of their pre-game conversation about how the Series was going so far. Something didn't feel right to Al Michaels. There was murmur that turned to panic.

Just as Al realized it was an earthquake, he began to explain to the television audience, He said "I think we're having a earthquake." He was cut off before he could get the word earthquake out.
