The entire metro area is under a Winter Storm Watch. Craig Moeller is tracking the storm in the video below. He says, for the metro area show should start in mid afternoon Froday... between 3 and 5pm. Stay with 5 On Your Side for the latest developments in the forecast.

Winter Storm Watch: There is a winter storm watch in effect from Friday afternoon through late Saturday night with .heavy snow and sleet possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches and sleet accumulations of around 1/3 of an inch possible in portions of Central, East Central, Northeast and Southeast Missouri, Friday afternoon through late Saturday night. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. A winter storm watch is advanced notice that the potential for severe winter weather exists in the watch area, but it does not mean it is a certainty. Those in the watch area should begin preparing in case the storm does materialize. If you have travel planned, you may want to adjust your travel time to avoid the storm. Also, you should use this advanced notice to make certain your vehicle is winterized. Make preparations at home by stocking emergency supplies, such as food, medicine, and extra heating fuel, just in case the storm makes travel impossible. This is especially important for those living in rural areas.
