The Oldest WWII Veteran Dies at 112

Richard Overton, the oldest veteran of World War II has passed away.  He was also the oldest man in the United States.

Overton enlisted in the Army in 1940, before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the Pacific Theater with the 1887th Engineer Aviation Battalion.

Overton was known for drinking whiskey every day and smoking 12 cigars a day. 

Richard Overton was 112 when he died on Thursday.
