The quiet Beatle died on this day in 2001 at age 58. George Harrison died of lung cancer 17 years ago today.
In 1970 George released his first solo album after the breakup of the Beatles. It was a triple album called "All Things Must Pass." He had so many songs written, that he had a hard time convincing Paul McCartney and John Lennon to put on Beatles albums, that it took three records to fit them all into his solo debut.
One of the songs on that album was "My Sweet Lord." Harrison was sued for the song by Ronnie Mack, who wrote the song "He's So Fine," which was a hit for the Chiffons in 1963. A judge ruled that Harrison "subconsciously plagiarized" the song.
In 1976 George Harrison released this song called "This Song." It was a cynical answer to the plagiarism case.
