Texas And Arizona Send National Guard To The Border -

The governors of Arizona and Texas are boosting the number of National Guard troops they're sending to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced that 113 more soldiers will be deployed today to join the 225 sent yesterday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott told a San Antonio radio station that there are 250 National Guard troops on the border right now, but he hopes to eventually have more than a thousand. The plan is to send about 300 per week.

The troops aren’t allowed to be interacting with migrants or any people that Border Patrol agents detain. They also would not be armed unless necessary for self-protection.

President Trump ordered National Guard soldiers to the border to help out the Border Patrol last week.
