Trump Ratchets Up China Trade War - 

The Trump administration is threatening to slap tariffs on over a thousand Chinese products. The sanctions would affect 13-hundred products worth about 50-billion-dollars. The proposal is meant to punish China for theft of intellectual property.

The Chinese government hit back at the threat by slapping tariffs on key U.S. imports including soybeans, planes, cars, whiskey and chemicals. It took just hours for that response.

There have been growing fears of a trade war between China and the U.S. since President Trump first decided to impose harsh tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. Source: NBC News


Facebook Has Deleted More Troll Farm Accounts - 

Facebook is deleting more accounts linked to a Russian troll-farm from its social network.  The company announced Tuesday it had removed 70 accounts and 138 pages controlled by the Internet Research Agency. The same actions were taken on Instagram. The Russian-based company was among three businesses indicted for conspiracy and other crimes by Special Counsel Robert Mueller [[MULL-er]] in February. It's accused of spreading misinformation to affect public opinion in the 2016 presidential election.Source: USA Today


*The Marines Are Dealing With Two Aircraft Crashes - 

Two aircraft accidents happened in one day on different continents to the Marines.

The pilot of a U.S. Marine Corps Harrier jet is being evaluated after his plane crashed in East Africa yesterday. Defense Department officials said the pilot was able to eject and his injuries are being determined, but he is said to be stable. Meanwhile, in the second incident, four crew members on board a Marine Corps helicopter are presumed dead after it crashed in the California desert. The USMC said the crash happened yesterday afternoon on a routine training mission. Source: CNN

*Embattled EPA Chief Defends Erasing Obama-Era Fuel Efficiency Standards - 

States are not happy with the EPA’s decision to rollback fuel standards.  EPA Chief Scott Pruitt is defending the erasure of Obama-era rules on vehicle fuel efficiency. The prior administration aimed to push average fuel efficiency to more than 50-miles-per-gallon by 2025. Speaking at the EPA yesterday, Pruitt called those standards unrealistic and unnecessary. Source: Reuters

*The assassination 50 years ago of Martin Luther King Jr. will be marked Wednesday with events in the city where he was born, the city where he was gunned down, and other places around the nation.  Places across the U.S. United States will ring bells 39 times, symbolizing the civil rights leader's age at his death.


*YouTube's Headquarters - A woman opened fire at YouTube’s headquarters near San Francisco on Tuesday, sending employees scrambling into the street and at least three victims to local hospitals before taking her own life. The suspect, Nasim Aghdam, was reportedly a disgruntled video-maker who had railed against the company on her social media. One of the victims, a 36-year-old man, was listed in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital. A 32-year-old woman was also listed in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman in fair condition.
