It was Paul who brought things to a halt, saying, "I can't in all good honesty, in all good faith, just look the other way because my party is now complicit in the deficits."

House Votes On Government Funding Bill -

The House has voted to keep funding the government, ending a shutdown that started at midnight, Eastern time.

That's when the government ran out of money. The two-year, bipartisan budget deal greatly increases spending for defense and domestic programs, including disaster aid and public health programs. It also raises the federal debt ceiling until March of next year.

Democrats want the guarantee of a bill to protect “Dreamers” on the House floor. The bill’s final vote was 204 - 173 with 48 representatives registering as not voting.

The bill now goes to the President for his signature.

ussian Athletes Lose Last Minute Olympic Ban Appeal -

Dozens of Russian athletes are being denied a final bid to attend the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Hours before the opening ceremony, an appeals court ruled that 47 athletes and coaches can't compete in the Winter Games. The entire Russian delegation was banned from competing in the games because of a state-sponsored doping scandal during the 2014 winter games in Sochi, Russia.

However, there are still 169 Russian athletes in the games, but they're not competing under the Russian flag and are instead designated as "Olympic Athletes from Russia." Some of the now banned athletes had traveled to South Korea in hopes of winning in court.

Democrats Want To Block Funding For Military Parade - House Democrats are working to block any taxpayer funding of a military parade for President Trump.

Texas Representative Mark Veasey introduced the "PARADE" act yesterday. Parade is an acronym for Preventing the Allocation of Resources for Absurd Defense Expenditures. In a statement, Veasey called the parade "an expensive political ploy" to boost Trump's approval ratings and an insult to military service members.

It would likely cost millions to get the vehicles and other items, let alone the soldiers to handle the equipment.

The White House confirmed this week that the President directed his generals to look into the planning of a military parade. Source: UPI

WA Olympian Claims Coach Sexually Abused Her -

A 2012 Olympics swimmer from Auburn is claiming that her coach of many years sexually abused her during training when she was a teenager.

Ariana Kukors told KING TV that Sean Hutchison started "grooming" her for a sexual relationship when she was 13 and that the relationship continued until 2007, when Kukors turned 18. Des Moines Police and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating and have search his home because of allegations he had photos of the athlete when she was underage.

USA Swimming said in a statement yesterday that Kukors' public statement this week marked the first time it ''learned of the allegations that Sean Hutchison sexually abused Ariana when she was a minor.'' Although, it hired an independent private investigator in 2010 after learning of rumored relationship between the two. Hutchison has denied the allegations.
