*A history of mental health issues no longer automatically disqualifies you from joining the Army.
An unannounced policy change in August allows potential recruits with a history of “self-mutilation,” bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse to seek a waiver. The ban was put in place in 2009 after a rash of suicides among troops.
The Army has been struggling to meet recruitment goals. 2017's quota is 80,000 recruits -- that's 11,000 more than 2016.
DNC Head Wants To Focus On Pressing Matters, Not Impeachment-
The leader of the Democratic National Party says now is not the time to be pressing for impeachment of President Trump as some big party donors want. Tom Perez told ABC's "This Week" that some people like environmentalist billionaire Tom Steyer can spend their money how they please. He added things like paid commercials aimed at impeaching Trump are not the focus for the DNC right now. Perez says he applauds Steyer's efforts in investing money to help get Democrats in office.
Perez says that instead of impeachment he's focused on good jobs for folks and healthcare for all. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is on the same page, just days earlier she said the focus would be on the tax bill and not impeachment.
