The wildfires that swept across Northern California's wine country and beyond are the most expensive in U.S. history. Damages total more than three-billion dollars and state insurance officials say that figure is certain to go higher. The blazes killed more than 40 people and destroyed nearly nine-thousand homes and businesses. The fires started burning on October 8th and 9th and scorched more than 380 square miles. Disasters Across The Country Are Adding Up-

FEMA chief Brock Long says the ongoing recovery from recent hurricanes and big wildfires is likely costing about 200-million dollars a day.

In a Senate hearing yesterday, Long called the rash of natural disasters unprecedented. He also said he's never seen a more disturbing disaster than the California fires. California Democrat Kamala Harris noted that the fires caused more than 40 deaths and the loss of nearly 89-hundred structures.
