U.S. Ambassador Scott Brown Is Investigated For Comments In Samoa-

The State Department’s inspector general is looking into complaints against Ambassador Scott Brown.

The office looked into possible inappropriate comments Brown made to women during a state visit to Samoa. Their findings resulted in a quick lesson on culture sensitivity. "Senior leadership at the State Department has been in contact with Ambassador Brown and he has been counseled on standards of conduct for government employees, which also includes ambassadors," said an official, who spoke anonymously.

Brown responded and stressed "Even though we all speak English, sometimes, you know, when we say one thing, it means the complete different whether it's here in New Zealand or it's in Samoa or other countries."

House Passes New Sanctions On Iran

A bill imposing new some sanctions on Iran is getting a thumbs-up from the U.S. House.

Two measures easily passed the House after little debate last night. The sanctions address Iran's support for the terrorist group Hezbollah. The bills are not linked to the Iran nuclear accord, but the third addresses Tehran’s ballistic missile program. President Trump recently announced that he is decertifying the 2015 deal. He wants to negotiate better terms. That is complicated by the fact that the accord was negotiated by the U.S. and several other world powers.

Meanwhile, Iran says renegotiating the nuclear deal is not an option.
