ABC Loses Shonda Rhimes To Netflix-

Netflix just poached the best thing ABC has had in years.

Shonda Rhimes has inked a multi-year deal with with the streaming company, effectively ending the 15 year relationship between ABC and the “Grey’s Anatomy” creator. The with Rhimes to bring her Shondaland productions to Netflix shows that service’s commitment to bringing more original programming to customers.

In a statement, Rhimes shared, "Shondaland's move to Netflix is the result of a shared plan Ted Sarandos and I built based on my vision for myself as a storyteller and for the evolution of my company. Ted provides a clear, fearless space for creators at Netflix."

The folks behind the Conjuring franchise scared up another huge hit this week with Annabelle: Creation. It took the top spot at the box office on ticket sales of $35 million.

That's a bit less than the $40.4 million total for last summer's Conjuring 2, but still enough to outpace the epic Dunkirk, which added another $11.4 million to a four-week total that now stands at $150 million.

The animated sequel The Nut Job 2 debuted at number-three with $8.9 million in first-week ticket sales, slightly ahead of the flop Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower, which fell from the top spot in its second week with $7.9 million.

Girls' Trip rounds out the Top 5tafter raking in another $6.5 million, giving the comedy a whopping $97.2 million in sales so far.
