*Illinois State Police are stepping up patrols this weekend and through Halloween.  They say they've added enforcement officers Friday through Wednesday to help keep people safe as they celebrate Halloween! Authorities say traffic fatalities this year are occurring at a pace similar to 2016, which was the deadliest year on Illinois roadways since 2007.

Twitter Is Banning Some Russian Media Ads-

Twitter is banning ads from two of Russia's biggest news outlets.  The social media giant announced yesterday the decision to ban advertising from Russia Today and Sputnik is based in part on the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that both outlets attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.  Reuters says Google and Facebook haven’t responded to questions about whether they will follow suit.

Walgreens Is Making Narcan Available Over The Counter-

All Walgreens drug stores are now carrying a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.  The drug store chain said yesterday that Narcan is available at all of the more than eight-thousand Walgreens stores. Narcan can save the life of someone who has overdosed on opioids such as prescription painkillers or heroin if it's administered quickly enough.

Opioids are blamed for 91 deaths in the U.S. every day. As we told you, President Trump yesterday declared the opioid epidemic a national public health emergency.

President Trump wants to be the leader who ends the opioid crisis. He's declared a National Health Emergency.

The move gives the Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies more flexibility on how to use funds, but falls short of the National Emergency some had advocated for.

Trump added that some out-of-date restrictions on treatment will be lifted and that states will get faster approvals for relief requests.
