Gregg Allman's efforts to halt further development on his biopic go beyond a letter to the director.

Variety says the rocker is now suing the production companies involved in Midnight Rider, claiming they no longer have the rights to his story.  In his suit Allman says the principal photography had to begin no later than February 28th for them to retain the rights.  The production was  suspended on February 20th, after a crew member was killed on the first day of shooting.

Filmmakers have said they intend to resume the project in June.  Allman filed his suit last week in Savannah, Georgia.  A hearing is scheduled for May 12th.

Last month Allman sent a letter to Midnight Rider director Randall Miller, asking him to scrap the movie out of respect to the camera assistant who was killed and her loved ones.  The film is based on Allman's 2012 memoir, My Cross to Bear.
